Mauro Armadi – Ristrutturo.Casa https://www.quarantaceramiche.com/blog-en The flooring and interior design blog Tue, 30 May 2023 13:29:27 +0000 it-IT hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=5.7.11 https://www.quarantaceramiche.com/blog-en/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/cropped-logo3-1-32x32.png Mauro Armadi – Ristrutturo.Casa https://www.quarantaceramiche.com/blog-en 32 32 171923781 How to assemble wall-hung sanitary ware: complete guide https://www.quarantaceramiche.com/blog-en/how-to-assemble-wall-hung-sanitary-ware-complete-guide/ Tue, 30 May 2023 13:29:27 +0000 https://www.quarantaceramiche.com/blog-en/?p=2244 Currently, wall-hung sanitary fixtures dominate the Italian and non-Italian bathroom furniture market. They are the first choice of any decorator or interior designer. This is due to their aesthetic beauty and also their technical and functional advantages in everyday life. However, compared to other sanitary ware, assembly can be more complicated and not exactly within the reach of newcomers to the area.

So how to mount suspended sanitary ware? We can do it? Do we need expert plumbers? Let’s find out together.

How to assemble suspended sanitary ware: the brackets

To mount the suspended sanitary ware, the first step will be to position the support bracket.

Unfortunately, bathroom fixtures have not yet become magical and cannot hang in the air without some support.

There are many mounting brackets available, but we always recommend choosing a combination of bracket and cistern for the toilet pair.

This product was created by Geberit and is called Combifix. Combifix is a module specially designed to facilitate the installation of wall-hung sanitary ware, because in a single product you will have a support bracket and a water tank for the toilet.

The product will be walled onto the wall of your choice. This is the most delicate moment of the installation process and professionals usually follow it closely to avoid mistakes that could be serious. In fact, we always advise you to follow the experts to ensure the best results for your bathroom, to have an optimal result and in safety.

However, if you really want to do it yourself, let’s calmly see how to mount wall-hung sanitary ware.

First check the types of wall available, if it is not a masonry structure, but plasterboard, it is necessary to choose a combination of brackets and self-supporting boxes. This type will be placed directly on the floor, supporting the complex.

If, on the other hand, your masonry wall is good, you can carry out a slight removal to obtain a recessed space for the combifix box. This will be accompanied by all the instructions and everything necessary for the installation and fixing of the suspended sanitary ware.

Position the suspended sanitary ware

Once the bracket and the cistern have been arranged, you can close everything with the material you prefer, even a nice bathroom cladding, and leave space only for the drains and the screws.

During the installation process, sanitary ware is usually supplied with the necessary screws, i.e. fixing screws for fixing on the bracket. It is also advisable to add a protective layer between the ceramic and the tiles.

This layer consists of a so-called noise reduction film, which you can find in our shop. This will help reduce noise, especially the friction between the two ceramics, which could damage the sanitary ware or tiles in the long run.

How to clean dull faucets without damaging them https://www.quarantaceramiche.com/blog-en/how-to-clean-dull-faucets-without-damaging-them/ Thu, 18 May 2023 15:03:46 +0000 https://www.quarantaceramiche.com/blog-en/?p=2239 Once upon a time, taps were dominated by the chrome finish because it was simple to make, pleasant from an aesthetic point of view and easy to clean. Lately however, with the advance of technologies, chromate is being replaced by other trends.

Among these there is certainly the opaque faucets, that is made in various colors, black and white are very popular, but opaque and not glossy.

In this short article we want to see together how to clean these taps to prevent any problems in the finish.

Matt taps: choose quality

Before going into the cleaning tips for a faucet that is naturally more delicate than a normal chrome-plated one, it is good to clarify one point.

The first step to have as few finishing problems as possible is to adopt products of the best Italian quality. So do not trust low-cost opaque taps as the finish could get ruined quickly and even with the utmost care.

Opaque faucets: what not to do to clean them

To make the surface opaque, it is obviously necessary to carry out special treatments that give this splendid but delicate appearance. To preserve it over time there are some things that it is important never to do:

Use excessively aggressive chemicals
Use abrasive objects or sponges that could scratch and irreparably damage the surface.
Use bleach, too aggressive.
Use polishing products, the matte finish is born not to be shiny.
Also avoid natural but excessively acidic products such as lemon.

Opaque faucets: how to clean them

Matte faucets are actually very easy to clean, they just require more care and attention.

In fact, all you need to clean it is hot water and a soft cloth, better if microfibre. We also recommend that you always have a towel near the tap with which to dry any water residues.

This little trick will save you a lot of problems and will help prevent the appearance of the much hated limestone.

How much does it cost to change bathroom faucets https://www.quarantaceramiche.com/blog-en/how-much-does-it-cost-to-change-bathroom-faucets/ Thu, 18 May 2023 14:50:54 +0000 https://www.quarantaceramiche.com/blog-en/?p=2237 After a long time, every room in the house tends to age both stylistically and from a technical point of view. Among these there is certainly also our bathroom.

The various elements that compose it are obviously subject to the wear of time and the daily use we make of them. One of these is certainly the bathroom taps, made up of various products that cover various places: sink, bidet, shower and/or bathtub.

After a few decades, taps may be affected by age and need a change, both in terms of style and quality. In this article we will see in particular what the cost of replacing the taps is so as not to arrive unprepared.

Cost of new faucets

The cost of changing the taps basically consists of two unknowns, if you allow us the mathematical language, these are represented by: the cost of the new taps and the cost of the labor if necessary.

We at Quaranta Ceramiche can assist you above all on the first unknown, showing you some of the best products at the best price that you can find on the market. These are always products of the highest Italian quality, which may perhaps cost a little more, but in this way you will know that you have safe and reliable taps in your home.

Depending on how many taps you intend to change, the price will obviously change. In the case of a single sink, or more components, the cost may rise.

For example, on our website you can find a practical Paini sink, bidet and shower faucet kit for only around 90.00 euros. A decidedly unbeatable price that allows you to change the whole bathroom quickly.

If, on the other hand, you want to aim for something even better and of design, we can suggest you opt for a Bugnatese-branded product such as the Kobuk tap set.

Finally, if you really want to aim for the best of Italian faucets, you can only choose Zazzeri and its finely crafted products in stainless steel.

Labor cost

The cost of new faucets is clearly the main one to be evaluated calmly depending on the many variables that are up to you.

The other cost is definitely that of labour. Although replacing a faucet is not a complicated job, relying on a professional is always the best solution to avoid running into more or less serious problems.

The cost can change a lot based on your area of Italy, based on the professional and also on the actual work that needs to be done on your taps. In general, however, you can consider an hourly rate that varies between 15 and 40 euros per hour.

Most frequent plumbing problems and how to prevent them https://www.quarantaceramiche.com/blog-en/most-frequent-plumbing-problems-and-how-to-prevent-them/ Wed, 17 May 2023 12:42:54 +0000 https://www.quarantaceramiche.com/blog-en/?p=2234 Each house must be equipped with certain types of systems that are essential for the correct development of the most basic information. Among these there is clearly also the plumbing system, the one that deals with managing the distribution of water and its discharge into the city sewage systems.

In this piece in particular we will evaluate which are the most frequent plumbing problems and above all how to prevent them from happening or at least delay their appearance.

Obturation of implants: how to avoid it

One of the most common problems that we all experience sooner or later in our lives is the water in the sink that doesn’t go down. This problem is so frequent because we all, to some extent, make the same mistakes with our pipes. In fact, these are designed for the discharge of dirty water only and the microscopic residues it carries: they are not made for food, hair, hair and any other waste that we think can be discharged down the pipe.

Unfortunately, this behavior is very common and, in addition to causing serious damage to the environment, it also risks blocking your drains.

Preventing this problem is clearly very simple: it will be enough to limit or eliminate as much as possible the fall of extraneous waste into the pipes. To do this, it may be convenient to have practical filter caps that will take care of blocking the harmful elements.

Leaks in the faucet: how to avoid them

Leaking faucet is probably one of the most irritating problems in your home. The drop that falls rhythmically in the night keeps us awake and despite our every effort it doesn’t seem to want to stop in any way.

If we want to prevent this problem we have at our disposal some means. The first is to purchase quality Italian faucets for your bathroom. Buying a valid product may cost you a few euros more, but you will save hundreds for replacements or for contacting a plumber.

In addition to this, it is also important to periodically check our faucet to verify that all the nuts and gaskets are in optimal condition.

Breakages in systems: how to prevent plumbing problems

Breakages in systems are a very serious problem that undoubtedly require the intervention of a plumber who knows how best to proceed to identify the problem and solve it.

To prevent this, we saw earlier that it is necessary to prevent blockages from forming in our systems, more simply plugs that obstruct the correct flow of water. If a filling isn’t fixed promptly and you tend to “live for the day”, you risk the problem getting worse causing breakages.

So if you want to prevent them, avoid fillings.

However, it should be added that there are also other  causes of breakage, for example the cold and very low temperatures can be dangerous.

Salvatori since 1946: marble becomes furniture https://www.quarantaceramiche.com/blog-en/salvatori-since-1946-marble-becomes-furniture/ Wed, 17 May 2023 12:38:21 +0000 https://www.quarantaceramiche.com/blog-en/?p=2231 As we have learned in our experience, the best Italian companies are those that sink their strength into the roots of tradition. The Salvatori brand is no exception which, since 1946, has made marble a raw material to be adapted in many areas and solutions.

In this article we will see what Salvatori does in practice and the philosophy behind a company that has made innovation a family heirloom.

Salvatori since 1946: philosophy

Before going into the details of a company’s catalogue, it is good to analyze its philosophy. The company philosophy is a set of ideas and values that serve to determine which guideline to follow. This is independent of market rules, price changes or technology, but it is something more.

Salvatori places production in Italy at the center of its philosophy, as the homeland of the best designer design. Thanks to the best technologies and the best values of Italian inventiveness and creativity, Salvatori manages to combine the handcrafted aspect of marble with more industrial needs.

This very simple, almost banal idea, pursued in every area of Salvatori’s work, has allowed him to produce some of the most appreciated design products in the world, the result of collaboration with the most excellent pens of international designers.

Salvatori since 1946: the products

However, as we often say, the philosophy and history of a company are fundamental values, yes, but they do not fully convey the image of a company. In fact, Salvatori primarily with its products and does so through floors, coverings, bathroom furnishings but also small design objects.

One of Salvatori’s strengths lies precisely in the vastness of his catalogue, a series of products that range without limits but always linked by one rule: made in Italy marble.

For this reason, among Salvatori products you will find floors, coverings, but also washbasins, tables, chairs, bookcases, various pieces of furniture, accessories and furnishing accessories. Practically Salvatori offers you the possibility to completely furnish your home with its products, even going so far as to do custom-made work.

Bathroom without bidet: is it possible? https://www.quarantaceramiche.com/blog-en/bathroom-without-bidet-is-it-possible/ Wed, 17 May 2023 12:25:05 +0000 https://www.quarantaceramiche.com/blog-en/?p=2229 In the life of every Italian there is that tragic and revealing moment when, on a trip abroad, we discover that the bidet is only available in Italy. Many of us experience that moment with different reactions: despair, tears, patriotic pride and much more. In fact, the bidet is a typical Italian sanitary fixture that has had decidedly little success abroad: lately it has been spreading in German houses, especially newly built ones, but it still remains a strange object for many.

Although the bidet is expected in any Italian bathroom, it can happen for reasons mainly due to the spaces of having to omit it. But can it be done? And what are the alternatives?

In this article we will give you the answers you are looking for and also the solutions for a bathroom without a bidet. However, if you think that the bidet should always remain in your bathroom, then discover our wall-hung sanitary ware ready for delivery.

Bathroom without bidet: can it be done?

The conception of the bathroom as a toilet and bidet is so deeply rooted that even our regulations prescribe the presence of both, but this is obviously an indication. There are no laws that oblige the presence of both sanitary ware, especially if alternative and more comfortable solutions can be chosen.

So in short: yes, you can have a bathroom without a bidet, but make sure you adopt an alternative hygienic solution.

Bathroom without bidet: solutions

As we have already mentioned above, one of the main reasons why the bidet tends to be omitted is space. In ever smaller apartments, the space in the bathroom is reduced as much as possible to the minimum necessary to leave more meters for the most important rooms.

However, the absence of the bidet, more and more often, is also a conscious and practical choice made by people. Regardless of the lack of space. This is because practical solutions are spreading on the market to remedy the lack of the problem.

These are basically two: the hygienic hand shower and the toilet seat with bidet function.

Hygienic shower: what is it?

The hygienic shower is one of the first solutions that is spreading on the Italian market and represents an excellent alternative to the classic bidet.

In particular, it is a practical mixer, equipped with a hand shower connected by a flexible hose. This can be easily used to cleanse the private parts directly while sitting on the toilet.

On our site you will find a wide range of hygienic showers suitable for every need.

Seat cover with bidet function

Many of us will have heard of the famous oriental toilet seats capable of performing many functions, including the bidet one. These apparently very exotic products arrived in Italy and entered the market with arrogance.

The toilet seat with bidet function or even simply an electronic toilet seat, is the perfect solution not only for those who do not have space for a bidet, but also to assist the disabled in their personal hygiene.

In fact, it will be enough to press one of the many keys associated with the desired function to activate it.

Ceramica Flaminia presents the new carbone finish https://www.quarantaceramiche.com/blog-en/ceramica-flaminia-presents-the-new-carbone-finish/ Wed, 19 Apr 2023 15:23:43 +0000 https://www.quarantaceramiche.com/blog-en/?p=2226 Despite the difficulties, the world of ceramics and bathroom furniture continues to grow. Every single company in its own small way continues its own path of evolution and discovery, to find new technical and stylistic solutions.

Among these companies is certainly Ceramica Flaminia, which for decades now has established itself as one of the leading companies in the world of ceramics and bathroom furnishings.

Flaminia continues to experiment with the possible applications of ceramics, confirming its leading role in design bathroom furniture

This year we discovered the brand’s new collections, such as the Fluo designed by Niccolò Adolini, or got to know the novelties designed for the kitchen with the Flaminia Goes Kitchen project and the new products that will enrich some successful lines.

A pioneer in the introduction of colour in Italian ceramics, Flaminia also presents an intriguing new shade: Carbone, a hue in shades of black that recalls material surfaces such as coal and its scent. Opaque and intense, this shade was created in the company’s enamel laboratory, which has always experimented with colouring as a design element on a par with form and function.

Charcoal will fit perfectly in contemporary, modernist environments in search of full but neutral shades.

Bathroom fixtures: which colour to choose? https://www.quarantaceramiche.com/blog-en/bathroom-fixtures-which-colour-to-choose/ Wed, 19 Apr 2023 15:19:25 +0000 https://www.quarantaceramiche.com/blog-en/?p=2224 In our imagination, bathrooms are always very similar and respect certain indications: toilet, bidet, shower, washbasin, some furniture and maybe a bathtub. In this image common to almost every Italian, in most cases, there will have appeared mainly one colour: white.

In fact, white has always, and we think it will always, be the colour that dominates the scene in the field of ceramics, particularly bathroom fittings: WCs, bidets, shower trays, washbasins, bathtubs, everything is white.

Bathroom sanitaryware: why choose white

This choice has many reasons, both aesthetic and functional. First of all, white is a neutral colour that fits well in any bathroom and any style requirement.

Furthermore, white is easy to clean and hides limescale residues better. With white, it is easy to notice when our washbasin needs cleaning. However, by choosing this colour, it is also easier to hide lime scale residues which, no matter how hard we try, will always be present.

Limescale is in fact present in water which, as it evaporates, releases these minerals onto surfaces.

Bathroom sanitaryware: why choose another colour

White, however, is not the only possible colour. Bathrooms had already experimented with other colours in the past, but perhaps the lack of experience and the shiny effect made those bathrooms look tacky and decidedly unsightly.

Today, with the improvement of technology and the adoption of softer and, above all, opaque shades, colours are once again making a comeback on the scene.

Among these colours, there are many possible finishes: from classic white, but made opaque; to black in graphite or charcoal versions; to lava or cement grey; or even powder pink, which is a very soft and delicate pink.

The choice of colour is mainly an aesthetic reason, as functionally a vase is still valid.

Conclusion: which colour to choose?

In conclusion, we can say that there is no one colour that has to be chosen, but if you are someone who prefers functionality to aesthetics, you can opt for classic glossy white or at most matt white.

If, on the other hand, you want to experiment and find new shades in your life, to break away from the flat white, then you can opt for other colours.

How to pack sanitary ware: our professional guide https://www.quarantaceramiche.com/blog-en/how-to-pack-sanitary-ware-our-professional-guide/ Wed, 19 Apr 2023 15:08:23 +0000 https://www.quarantaceramiche.com/blog-en/?p=2222 Working in the bathroom furniture business for over forty years now, we have realised that one of the most delicate moments of the sale is shipping.

There are many customers who avoid buying online every day for fear that a toilet or bidet will arrive broken or ruined. To resolve these doubts once and for all, we have decided to show you our guide on how to pack sanitary ware.

This is the careful procedure our professionals use to pack dozens of sanitary ware items that travel safely around the world on a daily basis. To confirm this, we invite you to read our Google or Trustedshops reviews.

How to pack sanitary ware: what you need

In order to pack sanitary ware properly, you obviously need a number of professional tools that not everyone has at home.

First of all, a wooden pallet must be obtained. Also known as a pallet, it consists of several strips of wood fixed together to create a solid base. Its size can vary and will depend on the size of the sanitary ware you are going to pack.

Together with the pallet, you will need

Two cartons the size of the individual sanitary ware
Styrofoam sheets, the number may vary depending on their size
Adhesive tape
Wooden corners
Polypropylene tape, also known as “strapping
Extra wooden boards
And stretch film
Nails with nail gun or hammer

Now let’s take a look at the tested and confirmed procedure that is among the safest around.

How to pack sanitary ware: procedure

Now let’s see what you have to do step by step:

1 – Place the pallet on the floor and on top of it a first layer of polystyrene.

2 – Separately place the sanitary ware in their original boxes, or boxes of similar size. Use one of the carefully cut sheets of polystyrene to reinforce them. The polystyrene pieces should be inserted between the ceramic and the cardboard.

3 – Seal the boxes with plenty of tape.

4 – Gently place the boxes on the pallet, where the layer of polystyrene was already present.

5 – A wooden corner piece should be placed on each corner of the pallet. This element consists of two wooden strips fixed together so as to form a 90° angle.

6 – Another sheet of polystyrene will be placed on each side. The whole will be held together by multiple turns of strapping, the polypropylene tape.

7 – At this point, the job is almost done. On the head of the pallet you will now place two strips of wood that will cross over and attach to the wooden corners. In short, a St Andrew’s cross.

8 – Last step, wrap the entire pallet in stretch film, which will make it waterproof.

This is the way our operators pack sanitary ware and not only that, also all the delicate elements that may furnish your bathroom.
