The dream was born in Italy, when over a century ago Francesco, Rachele and Valeriano Jacuzzi, like many other compatriots, left for the United States.

Here they founded Jacuzzi Bros and immediately put Italian inventiveness to work: the first invention was a propeller, used by the US Air Force. In an alternative reality you would probably be resting on a Jacuzzi airliner, but fate has led you elsewhere.

The turning point in Jacuzzi’s history came in 1956 and, hard to say, it was due to the illness of a small member of the family. Kenneth Jacuzzi had been suffering from a severe form of rheumatoid arthritis since he was two years old and his father Candido noticed that the only thing that relieved his son’s pain was hydrotherapy.

Candido Jacuzzi therefore decided to take that treatment home and developed the first domestic immersion pump that synthesised these beneficial effects in his own tub.

The family doctor found the idea ingenious and advised the family to put it on the market, so in 1968 the final breakthrough came thanks to descendant Roy who reworked the design by integrating the pump into a bath.

Today, Jacuzzi’s history has led it to hold over 250 international patents, which can be found in its products, which are seen as symbols of well-being.
