Bardelli: signature ceramics

Everything starts with the wisdom of hands.

Here lies the birth and fortune of Ceramica Bardelli, an Italian company specialising in the production of designer ceramics: high quality, handmade and designer tiles.

Starting out as a glazier’s in Milan in the 1960s, Bardelli products soon attracted the interest of international trends, attracting among its ranks the best Italian and foreign designers: Gio Ponti, Idarica Gazzoni, Robert Dawson, Annabelle D’Huart, are just some of the colourful names that have contributed to the history of Bardelli signature ceramics.

Each product is refined to the smallest detail and designed for the architect, the professional who finds in the collections the right combination of technique and art.

All the series signed Bardelli would deserve an article or an essay on them, but we will try not to dwell too long and show you some of those highlighted in the foreground.

In this quick tour we have to start from “Zip“, the collection awarded with the Design Award 2020, designed by Meneghello Paolelli Associati. Suitable for use as both floor and wall tiles, this series is characterised by a solid colour and a simple line, a sort of zip on the edge of the tile that completely rethinks the tile joint.

Bardelli Ceramic, Zip CollectionIn today’s ceramics, “joints” are almost hated and an attempt is made to reduce their presence to a minimum by means of large formats and the rectification of edges. Zip, instead, takes this element, rethinks it and turns it into a decorative fulcrum.

Moving on to a collection of Bardelli designer ceramics that is more articulated in its decoration, we find “Fleurs“. Designed by Paradisoterrestre, the series is inspired by Giacomo Balla’s Futurist Flowers and creates an abstract and dynamic garden thanks to the two mirrored decorations.

Bardelli’s designer ceramics also lead us towards more impactful collections, such as “Primitiva” designed by Studiopepe.  Conceived as a series in dialogue with the colours of “Pittorica”, it is characterised by a decoration that combines colour, intentionally imperfect, and materiality. The surface, in fact, is chalky on the background and slightly rough on the decoration.

Ceramica Bardelli, collezione PrimitivaThe collection available in the 25×25 cm size adds a clear and scratchy, almost primitive decoration to Bardelli ceramics, as the name itself suggests.

In conclusion, to give you a more delicate decoration and more harmonious thoughts as a finale, the “Tuli-Poni” series designed by Ronald van der Hilst. As you can easily guess from the name, this collection presents the famous flowers in a large format thanks to the combination of no less than 18 different pieces.

This series is also entirely hand-finished, proof that Bardelli ceramics are the best solution for those seeking an aesthetic sign that defines space.
