How to make a small bathroom look big: some tricks

In the modern world the bathroom no longer has as vital a role as it may have had a few decades ago. Today bathrooms are increasingly being squeezed into just a few square metres, to make room for enormous bedrooms and boundless living rooms.

It is not our job to judge the architectural trends of our society, but to know how to adapt to them to respond to every need.

In this particular case, let’s analyze together some simple tricks to make a small bathroom seem large, or at least to give it a lighter look despite the little space available.

Small, but large bathroom: use the suspended one

Obviously if a bathroom is small, it will remain small, so there are no magic products capable of enlarging it, this must be clear.

However, there are ways and tricks to allow you to expand the space available even just visually. This process is called composition and it is something that transcends simple bathroom furnishings but involves every area up to art, from which it is born.

If every element in the space is placed correctly, it will seem much more harmonious and open.

In this case, in fact, one of our most valid pieces of advice is to opt for suspended elements: suspended bathroom fixtures, suspended furniture and suspended accessories.

This will not only provide a more spacious visual environment, but will literally allow you to save space, albeit in height.

Small, but large bathroom: say goodbye to the bidet

The second piece of advice is certainly the most difficult for any Italian to digest, namely separation from the bidet. Starting from the assumption that, if space allows it, it is always better to equip the bathroom with a bidet, today there are various options on the market that can allow you to remove it and thus save a lot of space.

Two are the best known: the hygienic hand shower and the electronic toilet seat.

The first is a simple wall mixer, which is placed on the side of the toilet and which we can easily use on the same toilet for our intimate hygiene.

In the case of the toilet seat, however, we are talking about a highly advanced product, which many of us will have often heard referred to as “the Japanese toilet seat”. The electronic toilet seat has many functions, including bidet.

Small but large bathroom: pay attention to the colours

Finally, our third tip does not specifically concern choosing one product over another, but focuses on finding the right colors.

In fact, although the modern soul often leads us towards industrial, dark and gray colours, in a small bathroom we recommend sticking to a classic glossy white or at most matt white.

This will allow you not to burden the environment with dark colors.
